When we've got this many working people on our side, we can't lose. Great to see AFL-CIO's @LizSchuler, @AFSCME's Lee Saunders, AFT's @Rweingarten, and the NEA's @BeckyPringle at canvass launches across Pennsylvania this weekend!

Today, we joined @AAUP, @AFSCME, @AFTUnion, @CWAUnion, @HigherEdLabor, @OPEIU, @SEIU, @UAW, @UniteHere, @ueunion, & more laying out a vision for higher education under a Harris-Walz administration that recognizes higher education as a public good and the bedrock of our democracy.
This morning, I had the honor of joining labor leaders to share our vision for the future of higher education—a future that is truly worthy of our students.

*That the Democrats’ best hope could turn out to be exactly the unionized teachers that party elites have spent decades undercutting feels bitterly ironic.*

As retired educators know, the job never truly ends—this is not only a profession, it is a calling. So it is no surprise to me that so many NEA retired members continue to be tirelessly engaged. And it is why I am so thrilled to see you all at your conference today!

“The No. 1 reason teachers leave the profession is the pay. The No. 1 reason parents don’t want their children to become teachers is the pay. So, the No. 1 solution...must be increasing teacher salaries.” —John Arthur, 6th grade teacher and @myUEA member https://t.co/E2EC5YrN39

Teachers at a Senate hearing called for a pay boost while Republicans questioned whether it should be a federal priority.
