You should never be in a room with police for more than an hour. If they read you your Miranda rights, you’re a suspect. Shut it down. Demand a lawyer. This is just some of the advice I got from a retired FBI Special Agent, and two renowned false confessions experts. /thread

Council is voting to extend for *10* years the Downtown Clean & Safe contract ahead of the election. This ensures a decade of public money flows into the Portland Business Alliance’s coffers to fund their ongoing lobbying with the city. It’s a huge conflict of interest 🚩

Extremely excited to receive top billing for the @portlandmercury D4 endorsement. Proud day for Team Mitch. Thanks for not betting against Portland, Merc. Looking forward to fighting for the city we deserve. https://t.co/oLHKNchJ2v

[Hello! You know, putting these endorsements together takes LOTS of hard work—and that's on top of our regular excellent reporting. Show your appreciation for the Mercury with a small contribution,...

One of the few political bright spots— these super organized grassroots campaigns that allow smart, warm everyday people (your kids’ teacher, your neighbor, a member of your local) to have a shot at changing the city. Shame on @Oregonian for not interviewing them.
The Oregonian refused to even interview the only 2 candidates endorsed by Portland DSA — despite their status as the top recipients of small-donor dollars in D3 & D4 (and it’s clear why!) Read more:

You lied to Congress, stating that aid wasn't being blocked by the government of Israel. Do you think we are going to believe that this aid won't be blocked too?! The Lebanese people want us to follow our own U.S. Leahy Laws and not send U.S. bombs to commit war crimes.
The U.S. is at the forefront of humanitarian response to the growing crisis in Lebanon, announcing nearly $157 million in assistance today. We are committed to supporting those in need and delivering essential aid to displaced civilians, refugees and the communities hosting them.
