@jhendy_10 Those of us in the highlands certainly do. The highland clearances forced thousands out of their homes so the land could be used for sheep. They were then shipped off in boats to the US and Canada.

@ScottYerCarryOn My family suffered at the hands of the British empire in Ireland too, but I donโ€™t agree with the notion that Scots were an oppressed people in the same way as this tweet suggests. Glasgow built the slave trade

@jhendy_10 Whose pretending? Pretty sure most people are aware of scotlands role in colonialism and the slave trade. Doesn't prevent people from supporting a cause now though
