So my mom is Salvadoran and lived through the war there. She said all I need for this chaos is rice, beans, water, salt and some harina for tortillas because that’s all they had during curfews and it was enough.

My mom tells a story about how they never ate chicken unless it was a party and once, when she was little, they had to eat a chicken cuz they were under toque de queda for days and were running out of food. She said her child's mind interpreted curfew as a party.
