If the Guardians straight traded Amed and only got Thor who makes more money then this trade was entirely the same a the Pena scene in Moneyball. They traded him so Tito can't play him at SS anymore
Again super early but the Guardians are currently third in the wild card race, while having the youngest team in baseball and yet to see any of it's bigger prospects hit the majors so far. Oh and they also have the most MLB .com top 100 prospects in baseball too
The Guardians currently have so many pitching prospects in the upper minors they don't have room for a dude who has added 5 or 6 mph this year and is striking out double digit players per start. I have never seen anything like it
Thomas is a guy they have for 1.5 years, and they gave up no one in my top 15 and just 1 dude in my top 30, and just 2 in my top 40. Its lotto tickets with flaws or guys that got over hyped by scouting stat lines
Both Cleveland teams won it should be a fun night on here. Guardians in particular have been so much fun, they will hit a rough patch at some point enjoy this team now. Now imagine Jose hitting, Manzardo up, and Delauter on the way too. If you are a Guards fan you should be giddy
If Cleveland wins the last series against Detroit last year and finish 2nd in the division we are picking 11 and end up with James Tibbs or Trey Yesavage both good but man what a difference a game makes
At some point, we have to realize that while the Guardians are a pitching factory what they had with Kluber, Carrasco, Bieber, Clevinger, Salazar, and even just based on baseball performance with Bauer was a special run of unbelievable talent we are unlikely to see again.
Valera and Brito homered in AAA
Bazzana and Ralpy in High A
Twins blowing it in the 9th and the Guardians winning the series vs the Rangers setting up to be a very fun day for Cleveland fans
Guardians got destroyed by some on twitter for trading Lindor, Carrasco, and Clevinger and not getting a single current top 100 propsect.
Naylor, Giminez, Rosario, Hedges, Miller plus chance for Arias, Cantillo, Greene, and Wolf. Trust smart front offices
Seeing people rag on pulling Triston McKenzie. He had been awesome all day, but against that lineup is exactly why you should be ecstatic to be able to go get Clase. 100% the right call by Tito
People are pissed that they do nothing. Same people then pissed when they get a player. They are pissed the team never adds a right handed bat. Then pissed because the right handed bat isnt the perfect bat. This was a decent cost to add a starter, you cant prospect hug every guy
Guys Travis Bazzana, does not swing and miss, does not chase, plays for Oregon State, and won the Cape Cod MVP this year. Just go ahead and put him on the board. The Reds are on the clock
Guardians second best hitter is Andres Gimenez, and also a complete stud defender. Yet let's play him out of position and down the lineup to keep trying to make Amed Rosario shortstop happen. Rosario was a bad defender league average bat last yr. Also not much team control
Bottom Line for the Guardians they are a LOT of Fun. Its a good group of players with one of the greatest Guardians players ever locked up long term, the prospects are coming, and if you are not paying attention to this team you are missing out on the next wave starting now
I am not paying for Peacock that is my hill, I have MLB TV and Apple TV. I am not getting a 3rd stream for baseball. Baseball always manages to do everything as poorly as possible when it comes to fans and seeing their product
So if Steven Kwan finishes top 3 in the Rookie of the Year the Guardians get an extra draft pick, and with his continued amazing play, and we know how much old school voters will like a kid hitting .300 there is a chance it happens
Guardians never do one for ones, they go for multiple pieces in every deal. The fact they went for one piece speaks to the value they have on Kyle Manzardo
Remember when everyone made a big deal because of how much LBJ loved Cleveland to the point it was the center part of his character in an Apatow movie. Well, the one person who that might be true of in actually is Jose Ramirez.
Rosario is a great human being, great teammate, great athlete. But was asked to do more than he could. I wish him well, no reason to hate on the guy on the way out due to being miscast
If my data is correct the last 5 players Cleveland has drafted or signed and develop to play 2 full years with Cleveland as a starter appearing in over 100 games
Steven Kwan
Jose Ramirez
Francisco Lindor
Jason Kipnis
Lonnie Chisenhall
The Guardians have built unbelievable depth in the minors, and the system looks better every day. The 40 man is a mess thanks to adding 12 prospects last year and it won't be easier this year. There is clearly only one answer to the logjam and roster issues trade for Juan Soto.
No one traded at the deadline was better than Williams. He had an off day let's not burn it down because they split the series this weekend and won the year series against one of the best team in baseball
Lastly I didn't want to acquire Lane Thomas as I thought the price would be too high. I repeatedly said I had no interest. I am more than good with this trade as they upgraded at a price that is logical and makes sense
People get mad that Guardians don't do anything. Then they get mad the guardians don't do enough. Then they make a trade and it's they paid too much. They have the best record in the AL, honestly outside of SS and another pitcher they didn't have any other needs.
Will Benson and Nolan Jones made people irate. But I would rather have David Fry and Josh Naylor (who was the 3 or 4 part of the Cleveland) deal. No front office is perfect but reports of the FO demise were greatly exaggerated
Why does everyone act like Gimi playing SS is such a hard move? Dude was a SS for his entire life before coming to Cleveland. They threw a dude out in CF who barely played there Gimi was a plus SS when they got him. Plus would give him something to focus on other than hitting
Hunter Gaddis is a great example of development not being a straight line and guys finding roles. A year ago many wanted to cut him or thought he had no future now he is one of the best relievers in the American League
Peyton Pallette has some nasty spin, and before his injury was my top college arm in this class. That is a great value as I still had him in the top 40. Nice pick up by the White Sox.
Guardians can’t sign all 3 HS Pitchers selected after Braylon Doughty. Everyone knew they liked Chase Mobley. Not able to find a deal, they didn’t want a Club trying to float him to Day 3 with big savings (Nationals). Decision between Oakie and Mobley (plus Sullivan). Smart
Right now as a fan of the Guardians this is my lineup: Debate will carry to
@LockedGuardians
next week
1 Myles Straw CF
2 Amed Rosario LF
3 JRAM 3B
4 Franmil Reyes DH
5 Steve Kwan RF
6 Bobby Bradley 1B until Naylor ready
7 Gabriel Arias SS
8 Austin Hedges C
9 Andres Gimenez 2B
Today was a good day for the Guardians futures, they added 2 of the best prospects in this class and have the money to go make tomorrow very interesting
Lane Thomas bottom line is on his way to back to back wRC+ years over 100 outside of Kwan the last Guardian outfielder to do that was? If we rise it to 105 that's something Kwan hasn't done yet
Guys Travis Bazzana, does not swing and miss, does not chase, plays for Oregon State, and won the Cape Cod MVP this year. Just go ahead and put him on the board. The Reds are on the clock
Got called a moron this morning by a guy who used to insistent that Yandy Diaz was not a major league bat and that Steven Kwan was a backup. So I believe that means I am a genius
Guardians are younger than any AAA squad this year, none of the elite blue chip talent has hit the majors yet. There top three prospects might all be pitchers. The factory is just getting started. They thought they had Mat Olson before ATL came in. They can acquire anyone.
Michael Brantley is one of the no doubt All Guardians team of the last 20 years The outfield for me is Brantley, Sizemore, and Choo.
Here is my question though while Brantley is in the top 50 of 35 categories in Guardians history what is the only one he is in the top 5 in?
Right now Carrasco is 17th in FIP, and has a fWAR of 1.7. On top of that he was a guy who also took less to stay in Cleveland I wish he had gotten that no trade in. I know last year was not great but I would love him back
I don't know if I have ever gone from totally frustrated to having a great time faster than any game I have watched in my life. Yes I watched the Mariners game, and was in person for Belle's grand slam in 95 vs the Angels
Today stinks no way around it. Hoping they give Brito/Manzardo chances sooner than later. I still believe in this team. I still think playoffs are a guarantee. But this was a tough series after a good split. Not going to go all doom and gloom
People wanted to trade Bieber for 10 cents on the dollar if he looks like this all year the team will get 3x to 5x for him at the deadline compared to what he could have netted in December
Manzardo is a 1B all the way curious what they do with Bell, but Manzardo was one of the most complete hitters in the minors. Plus hit and plus power hit might be 65 grade tool, strong eye for the zone. Close to the majors, could help this year!
Justin Campbell fits the Guardians profile to a T, and was my 23rd ranked player one of the top 5 left. It is a great value, fit, and I bet he finds more velocity in Cleveland
Indians need to do something with the money saved from this deal, and this offseason in general. Otherwise, they are going to take a toxic relationship with large parts of the fanbase and extend that toxic over to those who have been defenders
Half way point and Cleveland has been spectacular if your fixated on the negative then I feel bad for your because it's been a fun year with one of the greatest bullpens in franchise history.
Guardians had the worst DH production in baseball last year with a 68 wRC+ and just 9 home runs. Going to Josh Bell who had a wRC+ of 123 with his struggles is nearly doubling the production and is a HUGE upgrade
Clase deal turns his FA years into options in 27 and 28 which would be between 10 to 13 million due to escalators. Very good deal for the Guardians locking up one of the best young relievers in baseball for up to 7 years
I am a person of logic, numbers, and science. Yet the Guardians came back when I turned off and followed the game via Gameday so I now can't turn the stream back on because I am very silly.
To the dudes to rushed to break the Johnny Gaudreau news yesterday being right doesn't make you less of a jerk when your focus is on being first and likely causing more pain for a family going through something unimaginable
