I’ve just recently lost my grandmother but I can’t help but feel like I’ve gained another ancestor. May your legacy live on. And may this country continue to learn the ugly truths that inspired your escape from captivity.

Yes no one should be killed for political opinions, but political opinions are not black people should be enslaved and 10 year old girls should be forced to birth babies instead of have access to abortion. Rest in power to Assata Shakur.

Her friends were literally shot at by police officers just for expressing that we shouldn’t live in a police state. She escaped from prison and lived as a fugitive in Cuba until her last days. She is an ancestor now.

Charlie Kirk supporters will say no one should die for their political opinions but Assata Shakur was a black revolutionary who had to live on the run after being accused of being part of the communist party in 1977.

I had no idea who Nick Fuentes was, what a groyper is, or what transmaxxing was a week ago. These are corners of the internet I’ll never understand. Everything I’ve learned about these far right extremes has been against my will because wtf

we are not even three years into trump’s presidency and his hate that has galvanized people like Charlie Kirk is being felt. Black people don’t hang themselves from trees. Especially in a country where historically yt folk made a sport of watching us be killed.

Black people are not even safe at predominantly white institutions, let alone HBCUs. And we saw this with the multicultural department being completely slashed at the U of Memphis.

Just like we saw those HBCUS get attacked and accused for the unaliving of Charlie Kirk. I believe there is a direct correlation between him and the lynchings of Black bodies that we’re seeing with Trey Reed.

So don’t tell us to feel sorry for the deaths of yt supremacists because they laid the ground work for the fascism that we have been seeing since Trump has taken office.

at south Memphians who just want clean air. We all know who is being targeted with these deployments of the national guard. Black and brown folks are constantly the scapegoat.

But instead of allocating a budget towards education reform and community services, our governor is allowing trump to send the national guard. I know Memphis won’t go down without a fight. We are tired of the hatred being directed at immigrants, at people who support Palestine,

The national guard and police, and ICE in general don’t prevent crime. These neighborhoods are severely underfunded. The job market is shit. Unemployment rate is at an all time high. Reading levels in schools are in the trash.

First Elon musk put XAI in south Memphis and is actively polluting the air in a predominantly black neighborhood and now trump wants to deploy the national guard in Memphis. This is the direct result of an increase in conservatism and right wing social media agitators like Kirk.

Fascists can not be reformed and when you make a living off trying to debate fascists, it doesn’t make you an activist. It just makes you money hungry and fame hungry off the backs of the marginalized communities you claim to care about.

Some of us need to accept that the modern kkk cannot be reformed. Like literally ice exists on the back of slave patrols, of stop and frisks, it is using the same repackaged police force that we have seen hurt black and brown people since the beginning of time.

They are right wing extremists. They are the reason why school shooters and gun violence exist. Why black women are being discriminated against in the work place. Why DEI and critical race theory is on the chopping block. They have no educational footing outside of bigotry.

And another thing, you can not debate fascists. You can not make your living off trying to convince people that want to see you hung up in a tree that your humanity matters. It is not worth it. It is not liberation.
