IDF soldiers recount using Palestinians as human shields, killing aid seekers, firing a tank shell at a man doing laundry. “The brigade rabbi sat down and spent half an hour explaining [...] that we must take revenge on all of them, including civilians."

Melissa DeRosa tells @errollouis that Hochul is vulnerable because of her alliance with Mamdani and don’t underestimate Stefanik (who she’s known since she was 12):

Best toddler meltdown so far: This morning he was devastated that we wouldn't take him to see the moon until tonight. We figured it wouldn't be visible. But we relented and said we'd try and indeed it was up there. "Moooo. Up!" he said, waving. "Hiiiiii."

In all my years in public service, I have never seen an issue more misrepresented by demagogues, political opportunists, and sympathetic media than bail reform. Look at the data: recidivism is DOWN since bail reform was enacted. It works https://t.co/Ge8MOrJ70j

You wouldn't know it from talking to most public officials, but the 2019 reforms drove recidivism down.

Bail reform reduced the number of people who cycle through our jails, disrupting their employment, housing, and relationships in the process. The data from multiple studies shows it has led to LESS crime. Bail reform is a public safety policy.

Please join us, @JailsAction & allies for an action this Thurs., Nov. 13, 12 pm @ Foley Square. We will take steps to collectively heal from the past devastation of NY jails & prisons, and share a vision of a future where people are no longer tortured and killed by deadly jails.

It shouldn’t matter if they had committed crimes. (Also, most of us have!)

Stefanik's campaign video includes a nod to "unaffordable rent". As far as I can tell, all the various debates about how to address soaring rents are intra-Dem/Left and the GOP has nothing, so I'm curious whether she has anything in mind.

There is absolutely no way a Republican, especially a MAGA Republican like Stefanik, beats a Dem* in NY. *who doesn't alienate the base...ahem

One under-appreciated fact about our legal system is that law enforcement agents can get away with lying in court, even when they're caught. @macfathom wrote a great article that unfortunately Village Voice no longer hosts online, but see below for a long segment with WNYC on it.
“Lairmore had testified that the sandwich ‘exploded all over’ his chest and claimed he could smell mustard and onions. But a photo showed that the sandwich was still in its wrapper on the ground after it hit Lairmore in his bulletproof vest.”

And the NYPD were nowhere to be seen that day as well, coincidentally. Mamdani will have to figure out if he wants to please NYC's shadow government, or if he wants to actually protect New York City from the feds

Extremely believable.
@MotherJones Sliwa would not say who offered the alleged 7 bribes, including one at $10 million, trying to get him to drop out. But this is what he did say, which includes an allegation that Cuomo was behind it. (The campaign denies this.)

Food banks alone simply cannot meet the need. Governor Hochul should fund November's SNAP benefits.
