I lived in NYC in the 80’s. Trump was a laughingstock. I was at a few big-ticket charity dinner/auction fundraisers that he literally CRASHED. Made no donations. Tried to rub shoulders with “important” people, who laughed behind his back.
MSNBC idiot Katy Tur says Trump is "a legend in New York City, Trump is synonymous with New York." NYC has always hated Trump: he's never won the city's voters, his crime family's been exiled to Miami and even as President, his hometown was ashamed of him

Thank you! Back then, I was the young wife of an investment banker, & we had to attend many of those events on the charity circuit. Trump is the one person the partners’ wives warned me about being around. And, yes, it was known he was a “crasher” at those events. Yuck!

My mother was director of membership at MOMA so she was often running and/or attending events. The Trump clan was almost never invited to anything but were gate crashing freeloaders. No cash. No style. No class. And it’s heredity. Vanky was who I saw following in the footsteps.

I actually heard this before. Something about a Children's AIDS benefit where he showed up uninvited, got in front of every camera, then left w/o so much as a pledge.

My wife is from New Jersey. Folks there were furious at the crap he pulled in Atlantic City to build the casinos he ultimately bankrupted.
