I am absolutely delighted today to be joining @ParkinsonsUKSco as Scotland Director. Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. I’ll be working alongside people with Parkinson’s, their families and friends and all those who support our charity.

Was good to get a chance to say how appalling this was for Mark on UK wide radio this morning. Travelling for people with #Parkinsons is challenging enough without one airline making it even more so.
It’s deeply concerning to hear that someone with Parkinson’s has been prevented from boarding a flight because of their condition. @MarkIMardell & James Jopling, our Scotland Country Director, spoke to @BBCr4today to raise awareness. Listen from 2:32:29: https://t.co/X0zf9moiBx

Today, we've published the results of our major new study into the prevalence of Parkinson’s in the UK. With this, we're also offering support to signpost your patients to the new information. Read about the study and how it may impact on your practice:
Parkinson’s is on the rise in the UK, and our new research suggests thousands more people are living undiagnosed. Our Director of External Relations, Juliet Tizzard, tells us more. For help and support, call our helpline: 0808 800 0303. For more info: https://t.co/OkfihYrAxh

This study also has drawn out that in 2023 #Parkinsons prevalence was 14% lower in Scotland than the rest of the UK. Whilst this might sound welcome we think it’s more likely driven by a slower recovery of NHS services in Scotland and waits for diagnosis. That has to change.

It’s hard to know for most people what has caused their Parkinson’s. In some cases, genetics can play a role in increasing someone’s risk and in rare cases cause the condition. We caught up with Genna and Miratul who discussed genetics and Parkinson’s. https://t.co/PZXtCI7LZe

Fabulous to see so many volunteers from across Scotland coming together today @ParkinsonsUKSco thanking event. Without them and so many more we’d simply not be there to support so many people affected by #parkinsons

Down to the Borders today in #galasheils to meet the support group now meeting in the rather lovely Kingsknowes Hotel. It matters that our community can park easily and the room is accessible. Big challenges with the NHS provision of care and support there but lovely chats and 💙

Mother rescued some headshots from the Am Dram club she used to be a member of. Sharing for those of you still here and interested in seeing what she brought to the stages of South East London/Kent since the 1970/80s 😊

Forgot to share this yesterday. Was lovely to see nearly 250 cyclists taking part in @ParkinsonsUK Cycle Trossachs event from and to #stirling. Raising tens of thousands of pounds to fund our physical activity programmes across the UK 💙
