Anti-expansion, pro-playoff here. The CFP was needed because the BCS was flawed. An imperfect product being replaced by a reasonable tournament, which then expanded, made sense bc it accurately reflected the quality in the sport. We already have that in college basketball.
I am too lazy to Google/ChatGPT this but I would bet a lot of the people arguing against this expansion also argued against having a playoff in college football. Younger readers may not realize for a long time the college fb champion was decided by VOTE. Seriously! And when.

The whole "perfect number" thing feels dumb bc logical expansion of the tournament wouldn't be just 1 or 2 teams. It'd be like 8. You couldn't tell me that 8 teams clearly deserved to make it last year that didn't.
