A 3 million dollar home in Hollywood is not even close to a mansion. I don’t think some people understand how expensive homes are especially in places like LA.
It’s because the immigration system is fucked and wealthy migrants have a better chance of staying in the US if they cross the border than if they apply in their home country.
This is of course by design, an intentional act that gives cover for anti immigration rhetoric from…
Listen to this 12 year old girl expose the dystopian reality of 15-minute cities! 👇👇👇
“How dare you steal my childhood and my future, and the future of our children, by enslaving us in your crazy digital surveillance prison.”
Plastic bag discourse is actually so funny bc you could probably use 20 of them every grocery trip for 100 years and create less emissions & plastic pollution than you do from driving for 20 minutes to get to the store
NJ banned plastic bags. Usage went down.
People chose alternative bags. Those bags have a larger carbon footprint.
Emissions rose 500%
Congrats everyone!
"This ought to be the motto of the climate lobby: We don’t help the environment, but we feel good about it anyway."
Come along with me on my carnage (I mean course) check this morning. What should be one of the most beautiful golf courses in the country is being destroyed by herds of javelina. If anyone has a contact in AZ state govt that can help us find a solution please pass it along.
“People have no control over tire dust” lmao it’s called Not Driving
With Not Driving, you stop creating your own tire dust and avoid highways altogether

@brxxklynbxby__
People have no control over the amount of tire dust in the environment, they do have control over whether or not they use a plastic cutting board.
Today, we introduced AB 413 to institute daylighting to improve public safety. CA’s pedestrian fatality rate is more than 25% higher than the national average. Daylighting is an important measure that increases visibility of pedestrians & bicyclists at crosswalks & intersections
I think it’s actually a good thing when wealthy college kids are concerned with social justice and global affairs. Poor people got shit to do, why not them
Here's a better visualization of homicide rates vs. crash fatality rates for the principal cities of America's 50 largest metro areas.
One problem for U.S.
#VisionZero
activists is that, unlike Europe, people are far more likely to be murdered in a U.S. city than die in a crash.
Apparently this is news to people but yes, your tires are spewing millions of tiny particles of plastic into the air & water every time you drive. EVs won’t fix that
The first person who can figure out how to build a

This photo is incredible. Thousand year old stone streets have withstood ages but the brand new asphalt road disappears in a few years.
Maybe cars and car-travel was a bad idea lol
Imagine being 45 year old George Washington, in the middle of a war against the strongest military force on planet earth, & having to deal with 18 & 20 year old ideologies as they scrape together a new nation
Density vs tree canopy:
This neighborhood I'm in in Mexico City has so much tree canopy alongside immense density. Can't even hardly see through to the streets from above.
To rebuild I-95 on time, we need 12 hours of dry weather to complete the paving and striping process.
With rain in the forecast, we reached out
@PoconoRaceway
for help — and they're bringing their jet dryer to Philly to help dry this section of I-95 and keep us on schedule.
If we want more than a bandaid on the housing crisis, the next increment of development should be legalized by right, in every neighborhood across North America.

LA has arguably the best weather in the entire world and its people are secluded inside buildings all the goddamn time because cars make the outside so horribly unpleasant.
@winninghype
You call only 25 people occupying all that space while burning hundreds of gallons of petrol into the air because they’re lugging around 2 tons of steel ‘efficient’ lol. Thats even stupider than the last one.
Cars are the *least* efficient transportation ever invented. Horses…
This lifestyle is horrible for society and the environment and we should be doing everything we can as a nation to discourage it rather than heavily subsidizing it like we have been for 70 years
Romeo Chicco struggled to get car insurance in December and was rejected by 7 different insurers.
It turns out GM sold the driving history from his 2021 Cadillac to Lexis Nexus which then provided that data to insurance companies for risk assessment.
He is now suing both.
Milwaukee resident complains about traffic calming:
“My son hit a speed bump that wasn’t visible at night and blew his motor. So, if the purpose is to do damage, it works as it should.”
Rest of Milwaukee hopes this young man will be without a car for some time.

That IHOP is a landmark.
Aside from that, this makes no sense. The location is in the middle of the intersection of two busy roads, and there is ZERO easily reachable access to public transportation.

Sure. Looking only at the 20 most populous metropolitan statistical areas, the median value of an owner-occupied single family detached home was $400,000 in 2021. For an owner-occupied unit in a building with at least three apartments, it was $350,000.
Using 1.5 calories of energy a person walks 25 meters or bikes 50 meters. A Prius can go 4 meters while an e-bike can go 127 meters. This is a compelling visual, and I would love to see some additional validation of this.
People see this & think “wtf make these tiny apartments ILLEGAL! 😡”
But that idea is *exactly why* this costs $2k/month!
SROs are perfectly fine, they should be legal (along with all other types of housing!) & housing should be so abundant that they’re very cheap too!
@nictrieslife
Until at least 5% of their population takes transit (an insanely low bar 🙄) sorry, no. Just a collection of suburbs masquerading as a city

@YIMBYLAND
There are plenty of homes in the US, if a certain area is full/too expensive, there are too many humans for that supply. People who already live there have the right to want to keep it as-is; every inch doesn't have to be Manhattan.
