My @Midlands4Cities PhD at @UoNArch investigates the afterlife of the Roman temples in the Levant in the 4th-8th c. AD timeframe, analysing how and when these buildings were modified and revealing motivations behind their reuse, in the light of the changing societal needs. #M4C21

Looking forward to presenting a paper tomorrow at the #TRACRAC2024. I will talk about the afterlife of pagan sanctuaries in the Levant, focusing specifically on their Christian reappropriation. Thanks to @Midlands4Cities @UoNArch @UoNClassics for supporting my presence in London.

Umm el Jimal is a late antique town developed on the site of a early-3rd c. castrum on the limes arabicum, today close to the border Jor/Syr. The level of preservation is baffling. Candidate to UNESCO World Heritage. Let's hope for it, and for many more visitors.

Esbus / Tell Hishban is so underrated and out of touristic routes, yet it comes with stunning archaeology and an amazing view of the Madaba plain - plus, it's so close to both Amman and Petra.

The 6th-c. church on the citadel of Amman, ancient Philadelphia, built next to the Roman temple of - it's believed - Heracles. In the background, the vastness of the modern capital of Jordan
