I was humbled to partner with parents & advocates from across Virginia to call for revisions to the waiver program for families of children with developmental disabilities. Today, both of my bills HB908 & HB909 passed out of subcommittee on a bipartisan basis!🧵

HB908 is truly a product of years of work and collaboration with self advocates & families. It is absolutely critical for aging parents to have the assurance that when they retire or pass, their children will continue to have the support & services they need.

HB909 will ensure that parents & family members can continue to serve as caregivers to waiver recipients. There’s no justification for forcing parents to be caregivers only as a last resort & they deserve the dignity of recognition of their immense care for their loved ones.
