Every person who’s hated Barbie has managed to convey it in such a self-serious and humorless way. Whatever happened to wit!!

I have broken my silence on Barbie -- a movie I vowed never to see but then I did and you know what? I regret it very much. This week in THE CRITICS!

The “why” of seeing a movie that’s become such a huge cultural moment as a critic should be out of curiosity and interest in cinema. The whole “poor me” of the piece is exhausting. Kim, there’s people who are dying.

@iramadisonthree People are so sanctimonious. Have a little fun. It’s not so serious. Enjoy the wit. I thought it was like eating a petit four and drinking a sparkling rosé. Too many boring Karens out there.

@iramadisonthree The line about Greta speaking for all women is so sanctimonious I can't. It's a FILM.

@iramadisonthree I think a lot of criticism comes from people not understanding the tone of the movie.

@iramadisonthree A well written pan of a movie is usually such a fun thing to read. It really separates the top tier critics from the crowd. There’s verve, humor precision and lots of film knowledge.

@iramadisonthree This is exactly the problem. They all feel like this when they hit “publish” and you can just tell

@iramadisonthree No I know people that literally died because they saw this film. This is no joke. Is anyone thinking about the children?!

@iramadisonthree Hate to break it to her, but pretty much everything is an ad. At least this one was thought-provoking and legitimately funny

@iramadisonthree She gave it away with that Gen X line. What a horrible trait: Always needing to be smugly above it all because only you, with your cool and detached sensibilities, know what is "authentic". Go complain about Nirvana going mainstream or something.

@iramadisonthree What do you mean no wit? Clearly it's right there! " 'Why' I asked Gen X-ly to my friends 'should I pay to watch an ad?' " That patented ironic detached Gen X humor certainly won't ever die, even when it has far outlasted its purpose for existence!
