Very productive session as always of the #IGAD Senior Management meeting chaired by the Executive Secretary to elaborate on the 2021-2025 Strategy whose goal is "Transformation towards sustainable development, resilience & stability in the IGAD region'. #SDGs

Considering that 25% of people succumbing to Tuberculosis are from Africa while Africans represent 16% of the global population, I reaffirmed our commitment in working with #IGAD Member States & partners to intensify efforts towards strengthening healthcare in our region.

DAY 2 of the 13th Meeting of the #IGAD Regional Consultative Process on #Migration in #AddisAbaba, #Ethiopia. Recap of day 1 before the thematic groups discussions on progress & challenges with regards to implementing the #GlobalCompact at Regional level.

Received the Special Envoy of the #UN SG for the Horn of #Africa @parfait_onanga today. Our discussions focused on recent events in the #IGAD region. We agreed to coordinate our efforts to contribute to endeavors aimed at resolving peace & security issues for lasting stability.

Met separately with Minister of Foreign Affairs of #SouthSudan-Hon Beatrice Wani, & Presidential Advisor for Security Affairs-Hon Gatluak. Discussed the recent developments in the country & agreed that timely implementation of the Security Arrangements is of paramount importance

Briefed President of #SouthSudan H.E Salva Kiir about the peace & sec situation in the region at his Presidential Palace in #Juba today Consulted w/ him about the recent political developments in the country & the way forward for swift implementation of the Security Arrangements

Productive meeting w/ 1st Vice Pres H.E Machar who briefed us on current developments in #SouthSudan. Noted the very good progress in implementation of Chapter 1 of the Peace Process & agreed that Chapter 2 (Security Arrangements) should be expedited to sustain gains registered.

Met w/ VP Hussein then w/ VP Rebecca Garang as part of my fact finding mission in #SouthSudan. The recent developments in the country are a reminder for the urgent need for a unified nat'l security apparatus to be constituted the soonest to materialise the Security Arrangements
