It has taken many years & I know that this is not the norm. I am proud to say that with our recent hires, this next year we will have 8 Varsity football coaches teaching in the building at Kickapoo High School & around the young men we are tasked with developing on a daily basis.

There are a few things they’re waiting on before he can get a CT scan and hopefully move out of the ICU, but we’re praying that happens soon.

He moved his right arm a little—probably just mad that we were holding down his left! Still takes a couple of us to keep him down.

The occupational therapist gets him to sit up a couple of times a day to help clear his chest and keep his muscles moving. He’s responsive during tests—shaking and nodding his head and even mouthing a few words, which has been amazing to see.

Today, he is doing well and stacking up good days. He’s no longer in an induced coma, which is a huge step forward.

The left side of his brain, which controls the right side of his body, as well as reading, writing, language, and speech, was damaged. He will need extensive rehab.

Two weeks ago, my dad, Coach Maxwell, passed out and fell down eight steps, suffering a cracked skull and a severe brain injury that required surgery.
