Worst part of bootstrapping a SaaS on the side: momentum is 100% dependent on your time. I'm experiencing that heavily this week. @itsjustamar's advice: start simple with a VA to generate leads. It's a small but effective step on the path to scaling.

Over a decade ago I called this “Minimum Viable Community”. Love seeing this trend expand and excited to be building in this space.

Outside of fundraising and setting the vision, CEOs should be hyper-focused on culture!.

Yesterday a jr. employee reached out to me to give me some negative feedback about a decision I made. Inside I was celebrating. When a jr. employee feels psychologically safe enough to give the CEO negative feedback, you know you've built a healthy culture.

Without officially launching Holler, it's pretty clear that cold email is an incredible acquisition channel. It's super manual but a great way to get the flywheel of organic acquisition going. It's also one of the most rewarding approaches as I get to connect with individuals.

Love using paid content to subsidize the customer acquisition cost!. I remember ClickFunnels doing this but always a good reminder!.

This video has 28 views on YT and 2 comments:. "Pretty crazy this only has 25 views, goes to show how much valuable content is out there, just like you mention in your twitter flywheel example". And. "gold". In SaaS? Watch it 👇.

Nearing a public launch of Holler. Been grinding away on weekends and nights. One thing is clear: with the indie hacker “lifestyle” you really need to believe in your own vision because it’s a lot of alone time at the keyboard 😂.

WHY are you learning to code?. In the grand scheme of things the language or framework doesn’t matter. What matters is why. I’m coding to build a product that can provide me with lasting financial security. Why do you code?. #100DaysOfCode #CodeNewbie.

5/ So finally, start small and stay focused and don't go off message as you mention. I ran into that issue when I sold my publishing business and now the engagement on my personal account has been really low 😭.

4/ As you have a series of low engagement posts, your overall profile's "quality score" (QS) goes down. As your QS goes down, the threshold for your tweets to be exposed to more people goes up. So now you have an uphill battle of which you have no control.

3/ When you have 1 million followers, (to your point) if you do not have a finite subject matter, odds are high that the average follower will not be interested. Each non-engagement = a down vote. So as more people see and don't engage, Twitter will show to fewer people!.

2/ When you have a huge following, you now have a disadvantage. Even if you go from 40 - 80 likes, you will still be deprioritized in the automated feed because your overall engagement rate is lower. Why is it lower?.

1/ If you were early to Twitter, you were able to rack up followers. Especially if you are recommended by Twitter. While great for your numbers, it was awful for engagement as the platform grew. This is because: a) people set up throwaway accounts and b) we follow more people now.
