Some of our year 7 girls competed in the Doncaster Knights Girls School Rugby Touch 7s Tournament. They were entered into the Bowl Play-Offs, which they won, and also went on to win the Bowl Final! It was a great afternoon experienced by all, Well Done Girls!

Thanks to Mr Carlin and our Post 16 students Harvey Beck and Louis Richardson who sold raffle tickets to support the Serenity Suite at DRI and those in/fleeing Ukraine. The boys raised an impressive £180.
Yesterday, some of our students competed in Doncaster indoor Athletics 2023 at the EIS. All students gave amazing performances throughout the day and Ridgewood School was announced the overall winner! Well done to all the students who represented Ridgewood 🏆🏆🏆
We welcomed over 300 families to our year 6 Open Evening last night, where they could experience taster activities at Ridgewood School. A huge thank you to our Ridgewood subject ambassadors, student tour guides and staff who all helped make the evening a huge success!

On Tuesday we had our first Culture Day at Ridgewood. Students engaged in some fantastic lessons, participated in African drumming and enjoyed a variety of foods from different cultures. There was a real buzz in the Dining Room!

Well Done to all the students involved in 'Ridgewood Wonderland' last week. This was our first Christmas community performance since the Covid pandemic. It was a pleasure to see so many aspiring and talented young performers back together making music and making memories.

! Today, Y7 were forensic scientists, testing areas of the school for bacterial growth, learning about microbiology and good hygiene! Tomorrow they become agricultural scientists, testing the effect of toxins on seedlings!

commemorations today were really moving.
Staff & students took part in a two minute silence at 11am, a wreath was presented by 3 of our prefects, outside in our quad area. This was accompanied by ‘The Last Post’ being played from the centre of the school.
Tomorrow we will be holding our first Culture Day. Themed activities will be taking place in MFL, Geography and Food Technology. African Drumming workshops with Unbeatable Energy will be taking place and students will experience a variety of foods from different cultures.
A big well done to one of our performing arts students, Gracie, who has made it to the grand final of Miss Teen Britain! Gracie emphasises the importance of the arts to children’s development.
Thank you to all those who attended the Year 6 Open Evening yesterday, we have received some lovely feedback about the evening and our wonderful students and staff.

Y12 students presented their cross curricular science projects last week. Students from all 3 sciences have worked in teams to solve contemporary science questions, then presented their solutions to their peers and teachers. Congratulations to the winning team!

Ridgewood School have been awarded the Foundation International Schools Award by the British Council by their work on internationalism over the last 12 months.
Congratulations to the runners-up of the South Yorkshire Schools Golf competition. Students from Ridgewood came in second place overall out of 13 teams.
Last week, we met the Year 7 pupils who have applied to be prefects. They had a great morning solving problems as a team. It was fantastic to see the young leaders working together and using their initiative.
To try to support families who have been devastated by the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, we will hold a non-uniform day on Friday 24 February. Contributions will be collected at the school gate as students arrive for school.

There is a drop in event at the school today 3:30 - 7pm, where you will be able to view the design ideas and provide feedback.
Ridgewood School will be closed for Her Majesty the Queen’s funeral on Monday 19 September. School will reopen on Tuesday 20 September at 8:40 when all students should return.

We recently reported that Jack won the young volunteer of the year award. Last night, Jack collected his award at the prestigious award ceremony at Hillsborough. Congratulations from everyone at Ridgewood on receiving the young volunteer of the year award!
Every Monday, students who have had 100% attendance in the previous week will receive a "vote and win" ticket. Students are to place their ticket into a ballot box to be entered into a prize draw to win 1 of 3 prizes.
Prizes will be drawn at the end of each half term.
On Wednesday 19 April, we held the Ridgewood Young Performer event, it was a fantastic evening showcasing the incredible talent of our students. Congratulations to the overall winner of Ridgewood Young Performer 2023, Matilda!

All year 9 pupils have taken part in a live, virtual work experience event this morning where they learnt what scientists do and how they use science every day to help patients and discover where science can take them.

Last Week, the Y9 DT Aspire students took part in a STEM based activity delivered by the RAF. Students had to communicate effectively to build their own suspension bridge. It was fantastic to see the students working together applying maths and problem-solving skills. Well Done!
Hard fought victory for the U15 boys football team in the English Schools Cup against Osset School, Wakefield, after being 3-1 up and pegged back to 3-3 they managed to win 4-3. Well done boys!
Next round will be against Ashfield, Mansfield.
Some of our Year 9 students took part in an elite skills development session with representatives from the British Army. This required them to demonstrate their communication and teamworking skills. Well done to all pupils involved!
