The approach worked!!! Peripherally localized ExbBD-(TonB-TolA) rescues OM lipid dyshomeostasis, permeability defects, & hypervesiculation in tolQRA mutants, but does not rescue cell chaining phenotypes. Maintaining OM lipid homeostasis is indeed the primary fn of Tol-Pal! 6/7.
