The odd thing is that the groups fed SFAs all developed signs of steatosis, which was rare in the other groups. SFAs have been shown to treat liver issues, so it's probably not that. I suspect a nutrient deficiency (choline, b-vitamins,...) due to the increased metabolism.

@MThesleff @teroterotero @JHWeissmann These old studies on SFAs are bogus science funded by the food industry who wanted to sell much cheaper PUFAs (plant-based mostly). Modern independent research shows that some saturated fats actually lower the cardiovascular risk! while the other increase it (processed meat).
