7/ It expands ideas of who a #palliativeapproach to care can benefit, and who and how this approach is offered. The Guide acknowledges #grief as a normal response to loss rather than a symptom of poor self-care or burn out.

3/ Poverty, racism, criminalization, and other inequities drive early deaths, but they also mean greater suffering in life as people are unable to get the care they need, in the way they need it. A #palliativeapproach can be a tool for #advocacy.

Using #ThisIsPalliativeCare, we will showcase parts of the resource guide & ask questions to prompt discussion on who a #palliativeapproach to care benefits, who offers it, and where it happens. Here's a sneak peak at our questions. Look forward to hearing your thoughts!

4/ A #palliativeapproach to care is about prioritizing the person, their needs, and their definition of #qualityoflife. It is about #relationalautonomy and self-determination in care. This becomes even more important in contexts of #inequity.

A #PalliativeApproach to care can impact quality of life & overall health for people living with serious illness. The #GoC announced $2.4M in funding to @machealthsci for their project that encourages earlier access to palliative care. https://t.co/eSChfekUO3

Remember: with a palliative approach, family includes whoever the dying person identifies as family. 💙 "Family" could include the community, a partner, and other loved ones outside of a biological family. #palliativeapproach #palliativecare #chosenfamily

Anybody with a life-limiting illness could benefit from a palliative approach to care, wherever they happen to be. This doesn't mean everyone needs specialized palliative care services, but it does mean re-orienting our care to a #palliativeapproach #ThisIsPalliativeCare

"Family" and the community surrounding folks often look different in contexts of inequity. Estranged from bio-legal family, many people depend on chosen supporters, street family, and workers who play essential roles in a #palliativeapproach to care. #ThisIsPalliativeCare

Here's our final question!! Thanks to everyone for joining our convo today! Q5: A palliative approach to care focuses on the person, their family, and community. Do you think this looks different in contexts of inequity and, if yes, how so? #ThisIsPalliativeCare
