This Hart's-tongue Fern (Aspenium scolopendrium) had some messy heaps of spores on its leaves so I checked them out under the microscope and found a caterpillar of the micromoth Psychoides filicivora, a fern specialist.

Plain Pollen-moth, Micropterix calthella. First time I have seen this micromoth feeding on sedge pollen. I am more familiar seeing them on buttercup species.

If a micromoth larva could hope, it would doubtless hope never to meet a Braconid wasp. This family of tiny hymenopterans includes endo- & ectoparasitic species, which can immobilise their host with a paralysing sting. Such are the dramas played out on a Honeysuckle flower. 💚🍃
