Best “job talk” ever —today I got to tell kiddo’s class abt being a professor! 👩🏫📚 I brought props & the class was v sweet & earnest while examining @Journal_CompPol. (Though thank goodness none of them managed to read the title of my article: “Voting for a Killer.” Yeeps! 😬)

For Malaysian Politics class this week, I've assigned @SlaterPolitics's classic "Iron Cage in an Iron Fist" from @Journal_CompPol 2003. These 2 pages on Mahathir, Anwar, Daim, and Mirzan in 1997-1998 make recent events much more understandable. He is looking to settle old debts.

Happy that our piece "Authoritarian Audiences: Subnational Propaganda Targeting in N.Korea" has been accepted by @Journal_CompPol. (cc @Yubs89 @HeatherLeighBa). Propaganda is not monolithic; autocracies target different groups w/specific messages that facilitate regime survival:

I like the #academictwitter sharing of syllabi as the academic year approaches, so here's three older of mine (BA, taught @Bard_Berlin in 2019/2020): #CompPol #QualMethods & #FilmMemoryPost-YU in case they're of use to someone. Newer to come. https://t.co/jy3lC2wjVH
