In 2013 a police helicopter crashed into a pub in Scotland after an engine failure during a static hover. In the USA helicopters have to maintain forward momentum to allow for autorotation. But in London 2025 we still see police helicopters hovering over homes.

There’s a lot I’m willing to do / try in a helicopter. (Within limits and regulations of course) An automated autorotation is simply NOT one of them - these are some brave rotorheads. 👀

It's been very hard, but finally I've been able to combine seamlessly all different transform animation types: position with autorotation, rotation and scale. Now you can animate anything at any time in a continuous way.

On July 9, 2023, a Hughes 369D on powerline patrol near Waldorf, MD felt abnormal noise + vibration → crew wisely turned back. 4 NM out: loud bang, hard left yaw → autorotation → safe forced landing by a pond. Minor injuries only. Lesson: Unexpected high vibration in a helo?
