ActiveStorage, despite being a powerful tool, can lead to a critical issue, as I discovered with my favorite feature. ActiveStorage allows you to load all assets from your production bucket in other environments, but it does not prevent you from actually deleting those files.

With @rails's ActiveStorage + @inertiajs rails, you can quickly implement file uploads with a progress bar that still feels like SPA. Need original file's metadata like filename/size? It's in the attachments table. Need image processing? Just configure it in the model.

This is pretty neat pattern to render an asset through a route with ActiveStorage::Streaming. I've usually just done an inline condition within the view itself but this is nice that you can also pass the initials to an SVG, or add other logic in the controller.
