As we approach the end of S1 Crew, we're excited to announce our first-ever Crewlympics! This brings together all Crews to showcase their skills and strengthen bonds. Crewlympics features weekly challenges and a recent challenge involved creatively presenting Crews' ‘alphabetti’.

We're excited to announce that our collaboration with SLB has allowed eight of our S4 pupils to nearly complete their SLB STEAM Pathways. This has been an incredible opportunity for them to gain insights into STEM careers and learn what they entail. Thank you 👏.

Our recent Collegiate Activity Time featured six sessions for all staff. I co-facilitated a workshop with one of our Principal Teachers on Project Based Learning (PBL), showcasing our collaboration with Riverside Nursing Home and sharing best practices.

What a fantastic start to the term at Harlaw Academy! Our first week featured the Final YPI Showcase Event, with six impressive finalist groups delivering interactive presentations. The panelists chose Rape Crisis Grampian as the winner. Huge thanks for all the support!

Our Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) final is happening this Thursday! Our finalist groups present their projects supporting local charities and social issues. It's been inspiring to see our students develop teamwork, research, and presentation skills throughout this journey.

A great session with @aberdeenuni for our National 5 French speaking. Pupils had the opportunity to practice speaking their French monologue about their Holiday or School topic. The pupils were provided feedback about pronunciations and how it can be improved 👏.

Our S1 Crew have successfully completed the Skills Poster. This curriculum activity helped pupil’s to understand their skills, attributes and experiences. Pupils created a poster evidencing their key skills and we had group discussions about our favourite subjects and lots more.

Great work from our pupils who created a presentation on ‘Our Union Street’. They have developed various ideas for the Exhibition Challenge and their work will be showcased in an empty window space. Their design concept is based on history, education and storytelling of Aberdeen.

Another exciting week with our Green Power Car group. Pupils have been applying theoretical classroom elements of physics and developing new practical skills. It is great industry exposure for the pupils and to see their hard work 🧰 ⚒️.

A great session with @RSMUK for our Higher Application of Maths pupils. The pupils engaged in Data Tasks and were divided into groups to carry out the exercise. For instance, they were measuring the sustainability and ethical impact of investments and lots more 📊.

Our Higher Applications of Mathematics pupils have had two sessions with @AskNationwide . Pupils engaged in interactive workshops which discussed a range of topics including; borrowing and debt, saving, payday loans and lots more. We are looking forward to the next sessions 👏!

Amazing to see pupils work in the GreenPower car club. Physics pupils are designing and building an electric car with SLB engineers. They will race against other Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire secondary schools in June. It is great to see the teamwork and problem solving 📸!

A fantastic day for our S4 pupils completing the mock interviews. This is supporting the curriculum delivery for ‘Steps to Work’ and pupils are asked six job related interview questions. Thank you to all our industry and community partners who have helped 👏.

At our inset session today we used the driving question 'How can we, as teachers at Harlaw, ensure a high quality questioning culture across our school?' We used lots of Oracy strategies to aid discussion and model good questioning techniques such as Talk Moves to deepen thinking

Delighted to share the mixed method questionnaire the pupils created for @HSCAberdeen @carolineand73 👏. The pupils were divided into groups and developed questionnaires about Customer Service and how the Vaccination Hub can improve the public’s experience.

Thank you @RichardNSP for providing a wonderful presentation about media and specifically to support our NPA Media Pupils. They will be recording music videos as part of their course and Richard provided information about filming tips, story boarding and planning strategies. 👏
