I don’t know if everyone realizes it but yes, it’s this deep. The cumulation of unaddressed fake news already shaped people’s over all perception of Leni and the Marcoses - that even without the actual fake info, their opinion about Leni and Marcos has been shaped already.

But just recently, I discovered a more disturbing truth: that perhaps, the fake news we see in social media barely scratched the surface of this whole machinery. Take a look at this query sent to me privately.

And this is not the first time I encountered questions such at this. On multiple occasions, I was asked of weird different claims about Leni: “Sabi daw po ni Leni, ipapatanggal niya kami (settlers) at ibabalik sa probinsya” I MEAN, LENI LITERALLY WANTS TO DO THE OPPOSITE

May naencounter pa ako, from a trike driver: Hindi na daw po kami bibigyan ng permit pag si Leni ang nanalo. AT isang planter sabi: ipapawalang bisa daw po ni Leni ang CARP HAHAHAHAHA

It seems that they were able to fabricate a lot of different fake stories and narratives that are targeted to trigger the hate of sectors. Do we see this in social media? NO. These are accounts of real people who we’ve encountered during the stretch of this campaign

Lagi kong tinatanong saan nanggaling, sino nagsabi, but they cannot seem to pin point the root cause either. But apparent that those were passed on within their networks - and its seems systemic.

When I heard about them hiring micro influencers, I just thought of them as, perhaps, a message conduit, but receiving these questions (lalo na yung most recent. I mean? Saan nanggaling yung ipapatanggal ang ambulant vendors?), kinilabutan ako.

Na baka may pinapakalat na ibat ibang mali at triggering na impormasyon ang mga micro influencers na ito sa assigned sector/group nila AT hindi natin ito nakikita o hindi nila masyadong pinaguusapan at namuo na lang ang galit at judgment ng mga tao sakanya.

Na dahil pasa pasa, mukha na siyang organic at close to their hearts kasi interes nga naman nila ang laman ng fake news. Inuulit ko, ang iba sa thread na ito at inference.

Pero nakakakilabot lang isipin na sa sobrang lunod na ng bayan sa fake news, ni hindi na natin alam kung ano ang dapat sagutin at saan tayo magsisimulang sumagot. Ayun lang. Sharing this burden hahaha byeee

So the next time you think that this is just about who has the moral ascendancy over the other, think again. Their machinery is scary. And to think that our technology for data extrapolation just keeps on developing and advancing.
