Our wonderful friends from L'Arche Togher visiting us today, Keelan,Luke and Keiran moved our soil into the beds. Barbara's dad gifted us a garden waste shredder how amazing is he, thanks Barbara's Dad, and the amazing Ollie knocked us up a new shelf in 10 mins with Ugos help.

John Creedon sent us this clip of an otter yesterday afternoon. It is the fourth time he has spotted an otter at this location which is the last place most people would expect to see one. Thanks John. #cork

‘Interference with banks, beds and the flow of water through draining, dredging, dams, weirs and culverts has also caused enormous damage.’ - Half of Ireland’s rivers, lakes and estuaries in unhealthy state as standards slide again

Willow dome weaving, shelf making, weeding, and bark mulching were just a few of the jobs yesterday, we had great help from the younger community as well. Red brought us amazing moon cakes from China and Maria made us delicious Jerusalem artichoke soup for lunch.

The OPW investigated the flooding in July 2012. It would have been immediately apparent that this screen had no flood risk appraisal (section 50). The issuing authority for Section 50 is…the OPW.

Just a reminder that the OPW carried out a flood risk assessment in Blackpool in the years before the huge flood in 2012. These screens were all photographed in 2007 for that assessment. The OPW should have had them removed at that stage. They had no Section 50 consent. #cork
Here's a trash screen located at the Blackpool Retail park installed in early 2003, clearly a major flood risk due to blockage. It collapsed in June 2012, unleashing a torrent of stored water upon Blackpool Village and overwhelming the culvert system. The wreckage removed in 2014

@GardenTogher @corkcitycouncil @CommunityGrdns Don't forget to send in a submission on behalf of the wildlife at the Bride River in Blackpool before the 10th of October. Nature desperately needs your voice to protect them against the OPW hard engineering planned works. See below

Our little River Bride kingfisher is back again. Ten minutes of scoping from the stick and a catch. Sound up for the 'thunks' as the fish is slapped into submission before being swallowed whole. #Cork

A reminder that the OPW could not find a kingfisher on our lovely River Bride in Blackpool. All they really needed was a magic kingfisher stick and a highly motivated individual to find them. Filmed this evening. It wasn’t difficult. #cork
