Barista Madeleine Souza-Rivera used to pay $9,600 a year in health premiums. With a union, she pays nothing in premiums. "The dues are nothing to me. I don’t even notice it" Hospital aide Lorie Quinn's pay has jumped 70% & her health premiums fell 50% since unionizing in 2015

Unionized warehouse worker Donnell Jefferson earns $29.30 an hour, nearly 2x what many Amazon warehouse workers earn. The year Jefferson's warehouse unionized his pay rose 25% while his $300-a-month in health premiums were cut in half. He said he hardly notices union dues.

Iraq War veteran Laura Asher says she wasn't making ends meet earning $14 an hr after 3 years as a hospital aide She took a union apprenticeship & became a crane operator—Her take-home pay is $44 an hr, nearly $1,800 a week & that's after deducting for health premiums & pension

@greenhousenyt If the rich and the bosses are telling you "Don't do the thing!" then it's likely in your best interests to Look at the Thing. These are not people with your wellbeing at heart, only their bottom line.

@greenhousenyt @JDScholten when a union forms they typically take into account union fees and make that part of the negotiated increase in salary so no worker loses money by joining a union. nobody seems to highlight that point.

@greenhousenyt @TheDemCoalition Hubby paid 350.00 to join the Union. His dues were 10.00 a month. We had great insurance, great paychecks and he gets a life long monthly pension. We paid off our house before he retired.
