An ESPN employee admits he didn’t know the company he works for has the NHL rights — which doesn’t make sense (why else would you be doing an ad roll during the broadcast?) — and he doubles down on the statement he made yesterday:
Ben McDonald addresses the comments he made about the NHL playoffs on yesterday’s Cubs-Padres broadcast

@Braylon_Breeze Next year, ESPN can say no thanks to his commentary during the few baseball games they have. No need to risk having him say something negative about any other sport where ad reads, such as the WNBA which has its fair share of haters.

@SportsOnTV_Hub @Braylon_Breeze Yea he’s one of the best in the sport… people getting mad over a nonexistent sport for over half the US is hilarious

@grd8901 @Braylon_Breeze “One of the best in the sport” maybe for college, but not MLB… also, you don’t need to watch a sport to have respect for it.

@SportsOnTV_Hub @Braylon_Breeze What??? He’s the color commentator for the orioles and he’s one of the best. There’s a reason he gets picked for the playoffs

@grd8901 @Braylon_Breeze There are three additional analyst that are needed for the postseason for ESPN. Combine FOX’s, TBS’s, Apple TV’s, and Roku’s and he is not that highly ranked. Glad you enjoy him on O’s broadcasts (big fan of Kevin Brown!) but he is not ready for the national stage.
