Our Battlefields trip has naturally focused on educating the students on war & the effects of it, but we made sure to fit in social time too!.Bowling, Nausicaa Aquarium, shopping in France & playing games. The feedback from the students has been excellent!

Y9 Battlefields students attended the Last Post Ceremony. People from all over the world attend to pay their respects. Two of our students, including our Student President, made a wreath and they were able to lay it on behalf of our academy. Lest we forget!

One of the highlights of our Year 9 Battlefields visit has been paying respects to those who gave their lives for our freedom and safety. The students held a minutes silence to show their respects. On the going down of the sun, we will remember them. Lest we forget!

Next stop on Y9 Battlefields was Talbot House in Popperinge. During WW1, it was set up as a place for soldiers to relax, socialise & feel like they were at home. Students enjoyed a cup of tea in the garden before exploring what the place had to offer. What a lovely afternoon!

Today Y9 Battlefields students went to Passchendaele Memorial Museum. Students experienced the smell of chlorine & mustard gas, which was extensively used to poison soldiers in World War 1, walk through trenches and bunkers and wear some of the uniform of the soldiers.
