Before you add Gin framework to your Go service, read this (spicy) teardown: - net/http is small & explicit; - Gin is a million-LOC dependency web with bloat, indirection, and lock-in. Tons of diagrams + concrete advice. https://t.co/xPt2Ub7iFD

Go 1.26 brings a sweet improvement to new()! Before, you could only do: age := 25 person.Age = &age // need temp variable Now in Go 1.26, new() accepts expressions: person.Age = new(calculateAge()) Perfect for optional fields in JSON/protobuf where you need pointers. No more

Go 1.26 is not out yet, but the release notes draft is already up. There are a bunch of changes, but two of them that I find super interesting are 1. `new` can now take an expression as the initial value We can now pass an expression directly to `new` to set the initial value.
