EMRs didn’t make me more efficient — they turned me into a data-entry clerk. I used to have a nurse, dictate my notes, and actually see more patients (critical in rural West Texas). I went home at the end of the day with no backlog. After EMRs? More clicks, more paperwork, less

Nowadays we mostly place the 14 Fr Wayne chest tubes, and the data generally support this, but remember they can still fail. Here are two instances where a 14 Fr chest tube became clogged, and a large pneumothorax resulted. Both had larger tubes placed and the PTX resolved.

CMS has finalized a 2.5% cut to surgeon wRVUs for most non time-based codes starting on January 1 with additional reductions every 3 years. This WILL impact both private & employed surgeons. @AmCollSurgeons is fighting this. We encourage all surgeons to learn more:
