Just received my physical copy of 'Twentyforty' - which contains the short story I wrote on 'Platform Socialism'. The story is set in a world in which all digital platforms are run, owned, and managed by the public. You can read it here: https://t.co/zd8VUsCU4I

The authors expose the myth of being your own boss. Platforms dictate pay, schedules, and conditions through algorithms while hiding their control behind tech jargon. Gig work may seem new, but it replicates old patterns of exploitation in modern forms.

I just finished The Gig Economy: A Critical Introduction by @jamie_woodcock & @geoplace. It’s a sharp critique of how gig platforms reshape work. Behind the promises of "freedom" and "flexibility" lies a reality of precarious work and relentless algorithmic control.

I got to spend the morning in the map room at the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office as part of the FCDO’s technology and geopolitics roundtable. Fascinating to be sat next to these old instruments of the colonial gaze whilst discussing the UK’s future place in the world.
