Today I came across this amazing macro in Zephyr RTOS. I have to admit, it's the first time I've seen something like this โ€” but it's genius!๐Ÿคฏ

They could take the SoC datasheet, create the HAL, and integrate it into TizenRT. So, either Zephyr is significantly better (with lower power consumption and a smaller memory footprint) than Samsung's RTOS, or time-to-market considerations have led them to go with Zephyr. (2/2).

Reverse engineering reveals that Samsung's Galaxy Ring uses the nRF5340 SoC and the Zephyr RTOS. Fun fact: Samsung has their own RTOS called TizenRT but chose to use Zephyr RTOS. (1/2).

Here you'll find the Samsung Galaxy Ring chip ID. You can find the blog post teardown here.

With the new BLE 6.0 spec, which adds Channel Sounding for accurate and secure ranging, do you think ๐ŸŽ might drop UWB tech in iPhones and AirTags in favor of BLE? AirTags use an nRF52x SoC, and the new nRF54x SoC supports BLE 6.0.

(3/3) Built-in data logger: While itโ€™s possible to connect the PPK2 to a computer like a rpi and use the cli to implement a data logger, for some use cases it would be fantastic if the PPK itself had a built-in data logger, eliminating the need for an additional setup like an rpi.

(2/3) Dual-channel: Sometimes, we need to measure not just the overall system's consumption but also the consumption of a specific IC in our prototype. Instead of using two PPK2s (which isnโ€™t ideal since thereโ€™s no clock pin to sync them), it would be great to have 2 channels.

(1/3) @NordicTweets The PPK2 is amazing, but if by any chance you're working on a PPK3, here are two features Iโ€™d love to see:.

@DreamSourceLab I've updated to the latest release (v1.3.2), but the problem still occurs when the screen goes to standby and then turns on again.

A colleague using a MacBook M1 Air is facing the same annoying issue. Is anyone else using DSView from @DreamSourceLab on a MacBook (Apple Silicon) with macOS Sonoma experiencing the same problem? Any quick fixes?.

I've been using the DSLogic U3Pro16 with DSView from @DreamSourceLab on a MacBook M1 Pro running macOS Sonoma. It's quite annoying that the DSView GUI doesn't refresh properly when I switch between windows and then return to DSView (see pics below).

I've just purchased the new nRF9151DK, and at the company I work for, we're eagerly waiting to receive the nRF9131EK from our RSM. I still can't believe how small these new LTE-M/NB-IoT + GNSS + SiPs are! ๐Ÿคฏ

What do you think? Are we approaching a competency crisis in the semiconductor industry, where we might eventually forget how the 'pyramids' aka CPUs, GPUs, SoCs. were built?
