Drawing the Historical Past Do you draw history? If so, which period are you mainly focusing on? I’d love to see your works and be inspired by it! 😊 As for myself, I mainly do medieval age (8th - 15th cent.), though I have done art in antiquity and early modern period.

No Tengo Fuego What can I say, it’s been a rough a week, both at work and at home. A consequence of not treating yourself like you’re alive. I think it’s not just the brain, it’s the whole body now, hahaha…😭

Tamales? (Es)tá mal(o)? Not exactly the forbidden tamales I had in mind, but a colleague of mine gave this to me after her recent trip to the states. Will wait until I am brave enough or after I try an actual proper tamales. Otherwise, you might see a new drawing…😅

Mayanostranaut I’m still studying (very slowly) about mesoamerican history and I found the Mayan civilisation rather intriguing…until I came across the ‘Ancient Aliens�� episode on Mayans…from ‘History’ channel 😓 Whatever those people are smoking, I want one.

Spooky month? The last time I went through a spooky month, you saw the creation of "Lady Oda the Pious". Granted, there were other things happening, but I uh…i’ll just try to stay away from dark things, least my mind wanders through the abyss 😅

October, Histober #12 - Pamitl-Bushi and Sashimonocēlōtl "Japanese-Mexica cultural exchange"

I still prefer drawing chinese armour than plate armour 😋 The ‘mountain pattern (山文鎧)’ scale may look intimidating at first, but once you know the trick, they are pretty straightforward. That being said, I haven’t touched medieval China for a year now…😓

Oh, Tengo Suerte! Going on a deep dive into Mesoamerica history is perhaps one of the best highlight of this month! Despite the myriad of bickering, I received plenty of feedback, help and support, so I’m really happy and feeling creative! 😊

Less Hardness for Platen Harness I’m getting way too comfortable drawign plate armour now. May need to find another ‘historical armour’ to hate so I can redirect my loathing energy to study and improve on…😅

My notes says this is based on the armour of King Ferdinand II in kuntshistoriches museum in Vienna and Altar piece at Santa Maria la Major, Trujillo. However, it’s been a while since I dwelled in medieval Iberian related stuff, so I will need to revise again 🤔

Return to Medieval Iberia #2 I seems to still be lacking inspiration for the ‘october, historber’, so please have this concept sketch of late XV cent. Iberia I made sometime back for the medieval HWS series to fill the gap, until my brain can think something funny 😅

If it was, would they have looked like the late medieval ‘Iberian’ plate armour? Or the ‘composite’ (?) armour like in Musee de l’armee collection as well as in ‘La Tama de Orán’, both of which shows a larger, square shaped tasset? I was looking back at my notes and was curious!

Spaniards Cultural Shock (Cavalry) This may be a silly question, but is it correct to assume that the typical heavy full-plate European shock cavalry wasn’t used (or utilized en masse) by the conquistadors up until the conquest of Tenochtitlan in 1520s, right?

I was taking notes as I go, so there’s plenty of mistakes. If anyone knows better references for what’s represented here, I’m always open for feedback 🙂
