Oh she's definitely wrong. She can't possibly know if she'd make this team. Probably not with how much lower standards were for her generation. Not to mention that kids have way more homework and testing they have to pass. They literally have less time to even relax.

Pfft, my ass. My kid hasn't done homework at home in like two years, he "gets it done at school every day."
All they do is sit at a computer googling their "homework" before class even ends

As someone who was pampered a lot through childhood, I think it negatively affected me as I got older. Parents need to make sure their kids understand how important commitment and responsibility is at an early age. I hope my child gets their first job at 16

I hope they don't and they have the time to pursue what makes them happy. There's a massive difference between encouragement and excessive praise. Tough love is just as bad as telling your child they're perfect and can do no wrong. What's best is a completely different mindset.

For example - old gold medal-winning skating performances. Some twirls, a leap or two. Now? They practically have to do acrobatics to even place.

not to mention, as the parent, they are in control of whether or not the child has a phone, tablet, computer & whether or not they can have social media & how much time they can spend on it… so if they have such an issue w. their kid on too much screen time thats on them!!

I think the parents mentality all depends on how it's delivered and fostered. I don't think it's inherently toxic and depending on the kid can be motivating. But what's absolutely ridiculous and embarrassing is posting this. That's just disrespectful and shows a lack of empathy.

Are you kidding?! Even in the 70s and 80s we brought ALL our books home. Kids today can't even bring their text books home. We had homework until the time I came through the door until at least bedtime. I sometimes got to play after school, but from 3rd grade on was studying.

I don't know where your kids go to school, but mine have less homework due to split school years. When I went to school, I had 8 classes every day and homework for all 8 classes. Now my son's school does longer classes but only 4 a day. Then middle of the year 4 new classes.

Standards weren't lower... They are now as children and people in general have gotten fat and lazy and expect people to cater to their achry knees etc.
Kids don't even have fitness tests anymore, but you wanna claim it's a higher standard?

My kids have significantly less homework than I had. This is in the same school district I grew up in. They even have free periods in the fifth grade for them to get homework done. That was never a thing when I went there.

Felicity I honestly don’t think you have any idea what you’re talking about.
Kids don’t do homework these days and honestly the ones that do are losers. I never did any homework in school and i’m successful enough that my local bank keeps offering me huge credit limit increases
