I always wanted to do this. With enthusiastic consent from a patient, here's an unedited cataract case with annotations and narration with the "hand view". I'm proud to share what I've learned from my awesome mentors so far. https://t.co/pkQjL7v20F #ophthalmology #ophthotwitter

This is a graphic from our book, VISION CORRECTION, and summarizes some general guidelines on candidacy. It’s a consensus work by some of the most influential refractive surgeons today. #ophthalmology #optometry #eyes #eyesurgery #cataracts #cataractsurgery #eye #ICL #LASIK #ICLs

“Which IOL is the best?” I’m lucky to have gotten pretty extensive experience with essentially all of the modern premium IOLs in 2024 and plan on doing a deep dive video early next year. Very impressed with Odyssey and Envy so far. #ophthalmology #optometry #eyes #cataract

SMILE is an awesome procedure but enhancing it can be tricky. Here is our “cap-to-flap” method to convert a SMILE cap into a LASIK flap. #ophthalmology

Today marked 1,000 career cataracts, start-to-finish, all by myself, excluding RLEs. To hit this milestone 4 months out of residency is incredibly special. Thanks to Al my mentors and Dr. @gregparkhurstmd for making this possible. #ophthalmology

While uncommon, we do everything at PNV including the occasional LPI. With state of the art imaging I’m able to record super HD videos like this. Here’s an LPI for narrow angles in the IT quadrant. #ophthalmology

Great example of nuance. This “high” vault is perfect for this eye. Learning the nuance of sizing prediction is one of my favorite things to learn from Dr. @gregparkhurstmd. ICLs are my favorite procedure by far. #ophthalmology #ophthox

Incredibly special moment today as I got to be my wife’s #EVOICL surgeon! 20/15 an hour later with great IOP. Thanks to Dr. Parkhurst and the entire PNV team for making this such a memorable experience. #ophthalmology

I don’t think any other part of cataract surgery is more important in making the rest of the case go smooth than hydrodissection. #Ophth almology

Axial length of 20mm during an RLE, you can easily see the retina since it’s so close #Ophthalmology

ICLs are completely life changing in < 10 minutes. It’s my favorite surgery due to how delicate, precise, clean, and easy the whole process is. #Ophthalmology

The FLACS method I’m learning at PNV is to core out the center, split the lens, and take the hemis if possible. Can’t argue with the results. #ophthalmology

Hold your phone at about arms length, relax your eyes until they cross and the left image overlaps the right image. Focus on the middle overlapping image (re-engage your accommodation) but don’t let your eyes uncross. You should see a 3D video of @evoicl surgery!! #ophthalmology

One of the coolest cases I’ve ever done. IC-8 to LAL IOL Exchange. The Mackool IOL scissors are awesome. It’s likely possible to get the entire IOL in one cut. I do feel like I keep getting lucky with these IOL exchanges though 😬 #ophthalmology
