(2/3) Here, Dr Summers discussed the stark reality facing family farms - that they are 'disproportionately likely' to be impacted by the changes versus estates with a small amount of agricultural assets.

All this talk of cattle dying from eating Hemlock has got me worried. Botanists- what is this plant? Sharply toothed leaves- not feathery. Pinkish red stems and petioles, smooth not hairy. Angelica? #wildflowerhour

Dear @Keir_Starmer I have, along with many farmers, felt out of sorts, poorly, exhausted, since @RachelReevesMP budget in October. We are desperate, We do our day job feeding people then we lobby at night, this isnβt sustainable and has a huge effect on our #mentalhealth

The EFRA Committee report recommends (para 50) that the Government should delay their IHT proposals for 12 months and in that time consult on better methods that prevent avoidance but allow the family farm to be passed on intact. The current proposal risks crippling or
I didnβt find anything new in this report. It simply collects together the criticism of the plans and outlines some alternatives, and says βWe are not in a position to assess the merits of each and propose an alternativeβ It calls on the govt to delay the changes for a year.

Since just after the #FamilyFarmTax was announced I've been urging the Government to consult on changing the poorly though through measures. The proposed changes mean: - Wealthy couples buying a few acres to avoid Β£2m of tax between a couple are not caught; - Ultra-wealthy
Talking about the #FamilyFarmTax and occasionally being told it is fine because people can plan to mitigate it by, say, giving some of the farm to their children while still living there, disinheriting their spouse in favour of the next generation, or using trust structures in
