I wrote a book on fraud, and have since done quite a lot of consultancy on its prevention. The single biggest advantage a fraudster has is the tendency of people to take the news that they might have been deceived as a personal insult.

@MimosahSka @theoryashistory You just have to be blunt about it. There's no way of avoiding the confrontation. Did a seminar for a bank once where it was concluded that their "No Assholes Policy" had to be suspended for the AML group.
