Two years ago today the occupation murdered Dr. Refaat Alareer, professor, writer, poet, activist, the “voice of Gaza.” They assassinated him in an airstrike on the apartment he was in along with his brother Salah and his son, and his sister Asmaa and her three young children.

Somehow I think such unapologetic bigots should not be considered authorities on what constitutes “antisemitism.” Just a thought

About 49% of Somalians are the product of inbreeding. The average IQ is 67. Mental impairment in America is anything less than 70. And Ilhan Omar is married to her brother. So there’s that. Civil war Somalia is a great investment, Minnesota! Anyone wanna vacation there?😎

Jesus. DeSantis made Alligator Auschwitz into his own state-side Guantanamo Bay torture site. We knew that's what they were doing, but this reports proves it. I'm horrified. https://t.co/cLRStzPjeS

German media is in full-blown Nazi persecution mode: This time they went after a small Palestinian stand in a Christmans market. This shit is insane. Germans have clearly learned NOTHING from history. Via: nachonal_geographic on Instagram.

@Darren_Mooney Bleak how much the last 20 years are a repeat of the early 20th century: a great depression, genocide in the east whose perpetrator goes scot free(against Armenia, now Palestine), gen z demonizing sex in movies, consolidation, fascist takeover (now USA), concentration camps, etc

@Darren_Mooney Ironicly Netflix is the most crus out of the media companies. Meanwhile Disney don't let a inter-Species relationship go romantic.

@Darren_Mooney Honestly at times I feel the ace community in particular would do better to differentiate the line between sex repulsion and purity culture because while they might be trying to achieve similar things from a distance, they are very, *very* different.

@Darren_Mooney I think when I've seen it it's mostly aspec folks who are venting about what they see as the ubiquity of sexuality in popular culture, but like... I cannot stress enough how much it is not, in fact, cool and based to resurrect the Hays Code.

@Darren_Mooney Oh while we're talking about this I absolutely *loathe* how some (admittedly young and naive, so hopefully they'll grow out of it) segments of the queer community seem to earnestly believe the Hays Code was cool and a Good Idea actually.

I love many movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood, but there is a very clear interruption of the evolution of American storytelling from the late twenties and early thirties to late sixties and early seventies. And it still shapes how a lot of people talk about art.

I would also point out that the Hays Code *did* do untold damage to American popular culture, ostracizing the voices of women and minorities, stripping out a lot of basic human interactions from the artform, and imposing a simplistic moral framework.

The film “Morocco”, released in 1930, four years before the code, featured a lesbian kiss and earned four Oscar nominations. Don’t believe this revisionism. The Code set back American cinema by decades.

@Darren_Mooney The Hays Code forced directors to be clever with what they were getting on screen & forcing audiences to understand subtext. Society was much more conservative back then, so even if the code wasn’t enforced it wouldn’t have been all that different.

@lucia_fasano People are always talking about a film having "cultural impact" because of the alleged millions/billions of streams that company claims they get, but I'll tell you none of that means shit to me when crew and cast are over worked, underpaid, lied to, abused, and stolen from.

@lucia_fasano The things I've been told by filmmakers from around the world who've worked with Netflix are egregious. They're a disgusting company that hoards scripts and exploits creatives, and to distract from that they use streams and the same performers by having them do constant promotion
