The march towards healthcare privatization continues.
Bill tabled in AB that will allow dr dual practice. This is different than the status quo here and elsewhere in Canada that allows opting out out of the public system entirely. Instead, drs will be able to have both public and private pay patients. /1

My right to free expression was removed by the state for the next 4 years. So excuse me if I’m a bit salty.
ICYMI: Alberta will always protect the right to free expression, open dialogue, and the ability to think critically for yourself. Professional regulatory bodies and colleges will no longer be permitted to police the off-duty speech of their members and censor them.

"We hadn't had any recalls that had been launched, so we weren't aware ... of these problems" How disingenuous. The premier announced her intention to change the law right in the middle of an approved recall campaign https://t.co/bKvK7VfNI9
My position is clear: voter recall is part of our democracy to hold all elected officials accountable in between elections. Read Article: https://t.co/sdysoPRQyF

I’m well paid in the public system. I’m swamped. I need time not money. If a physician can charge 2 to 3x’s as much in a parallel private system they can earn more AND get time. They need to see fewer patients or less units of patient care for more money. Basically your hourly
Alberta plans to allow doctors to deliver public and private services /via @globeandmail

The Canadian Medical Association condemns Alberta's privatization of healthcare. "The evidence from around the world is clear: where a parallel private health system operates, both health outcomes and access to care are worse" https://t.co/oSFUWNeAcE

Authoritarianism is a slippery slope. It seems the UCP will keep the notwithstanding clause at the ready as a regular kitchen implement. A threat to all Canadians, cuz it normalises violating Charter rights for any other wannabe despot premiers.
The UCP has invoked the Notwithstanding Clause again — this time to attack vulnerable trans kids. This is why unions stood in Solidarity with the 2SlGBTQ+ community yesterday. “If they can use it to strip rights from workers and now vulnerable trans kids, who’s next?”

If Danielle Smith wants Albertans to pay to see a doctor, she should call the election. Albertans have had enough of the UCP, and they want change. Alberta's New Democrats are ready. https://t.co/1ExQLE8cOK

We voted against the budget when it was safe to do so! We will hold the government to account when there will be no political blowback!
The funniest thing during the whole vote? It appears that Scheer and Reid waited outside the House during the vote just in case they had to abstain to ensure the vote passed. Then, when it was clear that it would, they raced back in and claimed technical difficulties to get
