This pt came in for an
#IPP
.
His HgA1c was 12.7.
I said: I can fix your erections but DM will kill you! I made him wait
He returns today for his IPP w/ a HgA1c of 6.7!
This is
#MensHealth
. This is taking ownership of our responsibility to our pts & the impact we can have.
@drhelenbernie
I do the same thing. I don’t care what the data says about infection risk w elevated HgA1C. Putting an IPP in is a partnership/marriage. The patients have to do their part too if they want me to implant them. Never have regretted it.
@JaredLMossMD
100%! So what if you place the IPP &it goes fine/no infection- you’ve left a man w poorly controlled DM to continue on & evntually get a kidney transplant, nerve damage, loose ability to ejaculate, amputation etc.
#MensHealth
=the whole pt. I firmly believe doing the right thing
@drhelenbernie
Wholeheartedly agree.
#MensHealth
= whole body health. Bodies are made up of interrelated systems, not individual silos. ED itself a sign of possible cardiovascular 🫀 disease - do we refer to Cards enough? Canary in the coal mine.
