"The way I described it to the Chiefs that I've spoken with is that they had fought a battle over the last number of years to get sovereignty respected and to extract themselves from the paternalistic Indian Act, we get treated the exact same way from Ottawa"

Today Smith claimed that she understand Indigenous people because the federal government treats Alberta just like governments have treated indigenous people.
Seriously.
Smith must stop comparing things to cultural genocide. Just stop.

So she complains about Ottawa interfering then sets up a task force to interfere with the city of Edmonton. What a piece of work
@disorderedyyc
@KathleenGanley
She did not!! But of course she did! She got the whole idea about AB "Sovereignty" from Indigenous suffering and out plight for sovereignty. Disgusting. I'm furious.
@disorderedyyc
@KathleenGanley
Does she know if the Indigenous Peoples pushed to declare sovereignty then there would no longer be an Alberta? Currently there is no land in the province that is not either federal or treaty lands.
@disorderedyyc
@KathleenGanley
Wait, what? Did
@ABDanielleSmith
just say that Alberta has been as mistreated by the federal government as Indigenous people? Does she have any idea how insensitive/tone deaf that is? Starting to think โdiscriminationโ isnโt in her dictionary correctly. (Like the unvaxxed??)
@disorderedyyc
@KathleenGanley
Holy cats, she did in fact compare Alberta's "suffering" (we have never suffered) to the genocide of First Nations peoples. And on the same day her minister of advanced education tweeted a video that used a white supremacist's book as a source.
@disorderedyyc
@KathleenGanley
Hmmm, I can't remember when Albertans needed permission from Ottawa to leave our province. Or when our children were taken and sent to school in Ottawa and subjected to horrific abuse. Not that I can remember "in my lifetime", anyhow. But yeah, good comparison

Yes and we unenlightened woke folks back in TO keep hearing whispers of how bad life is in Alberta. Need guns to keep bears from the door, need guns to shoot squirrels for food. Haven't had any protein in a month. Pickup trucks cost $100+ to buy and more to fill. Just tragic ๐
