On this day, September 26th in 1938 the Handover of Fort Berehaven, Bere Island took place, one of Ireland's 3 Treaty Ports. At 12 noon the Union Jack was lowered over Rerrin Redoubt and at 12.01pm the Irish Tricolour was raised over the fort. These photos were taken on that day.
