The Quran. I am being serious. I was about jump ship to atheism when I decided to at least first read the Quran. They tell you that it is the word of God, that it is 'the' Book. And then you read for yourself and see that the word of God falls on consciousness like lightning.

I started the translation not knowing what to expect. I read it in an English translation with flow. No breaks; no note-taking. Just a consistent reading. It takes you into its own rhythm, and then sends you through the highs and lows of your intellect.

Reality has its own poetry and no one knows it better than God Himself. The disbeliever, saying they are making peace, are the corruptors. But, they know it not. The mockers, who mock believers, will be mocked. But, they know it not.

"O children of Israel, remember," will be followed by truths, stories, and retellings of a profound order. And then again, "O children of Israel, remember". And then again, "O Children of Israel, remember My favor which I have bestowed upon you..."

The structure is of astonishing beauty, and within that structure, it makes you doubt your doubts. And reminds you to see. Know all the science, but Quran will make you wonder at the world all over again. The second chapter of the Quran takes you to a whole other plane.

It sounds like the most eloquent speech of a king of a high order. How he stirs your soul up, reminds you of the past, make you see again, and then in-between those grand retellings, he makes your soul take flight to the highest heights just with the sheer power of his oratory.

But there is a problem. That the speech of Quran is so perfectly, so perfectly authoritative that only 'the' King of kings could have done it. An example of this is the verse 74 of the second chapter:

That your (children of Israel's) hearts became hardened like a stone. Even harder, in fact. Since, even stones split open and water comes out of them. Even stones fall down for the fear of His Majesty. This one really hit me.

It has been quite a while, unfortunately, since I have revised it. I apologise if I was vague at some places. It was more a description of my personal experience of the reading than an explanation of the Book. My account is on most days very casual so overlook my shortcomings.

The translation I used was Sahih International translation. It's a good modern translation but I am sure there are other good options too

@dionysianfutuwa What would be your opinion after reading Bible, Gita etc., why don't you think that " I must read all the religious books" before coming to any opinion

@SreenivasaBilla Because Islam at once validates all the previous religions as God-revealed and itself being the final one.

@dionysianfutuwa was born and raised as a Muslim. I spent years studying the Qur’an in its original Arabic, along with its classical commentaries and contextual explanations. What I found was a text that is often incoherent—jumping from one topic to another, with many verses that are unclear even

@dionysianfutuwa Well they keep saying Mohammed made it up and then you read it and think unless Mohammed had a 200 IQ with infinite technology he can't make this up. Like it's a whole new dimension of literature.

@dionysianfutuwa This was a profound reflection, thank you for sharing it. I want to ask you what translation did you use? I wanted to share from my own relationship with the Qur’an over maybe 15 years, I still find the most profound subtleties and new things in it. It leaves me speechless

@dionysianfutuwa I felt this exact feeling you describe in this thread before I made the decision to convert to Islam. The moment I read it I just felt clarity.

@dionysianfutuwa The Qur'an is not the word of man. just one example. (Anbiya 21:46) "If a light touch of your Lord's punishment were to reach them..." Word Analysis: 📝 Vele-in (وَلَئِنْ) – "If" (not certainty, but possibility) – minimality Messet-hum (مَسَّتْهُمْ) – "touches" (not harsh, but

@dionysianfutuwa The Quran is the only book to not have been changed over time due to it being memorised. The Bible and Torah has been changed and revised therefore not as reliable. The Quran teaches against consumerism and that's where the true war on Islam stems from, not "terrorism", but the

@dionysianfutuwa And who is a liar? Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ. Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist. Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. 1 John 2:22-23

@dionysianfutuwa A lot of people are exploring the Qur’an lately. Here’s a short recitation about Jesus (peace be upon him) — mentioned with honor in Islam: Worth a listen.
