(Disclaimer that no specific people/groups/events/quotes appear in this per se, though combinations/half-imagined versions of them absolutely do; this was v much an experiment in mashing together real things that happened into broad symbols to tell the story in an accessible way)

Interrupting my writing-up-phase Twitter quietude to confirm that I did, in fact, turn my research into an extremely simplified, mostly fictionalised, whistle-stop-tour @bitsypcs game, in honour of my (almost certainly) final #chase2021encounters.
.@deer_ful has presented their PhD research as a **game** which must surely be a first?? (please prove me wrong, I want to see more PhD video games) #chase2021encounters

If you were at my @CHASE_DTP Encounters talk on community music and COVID last week, here’s the illustration of videoconferencing audio latency I couldn’t provide at the time ;)
My mum is in a singing group and they're not going to beaten by the pandemic so they continue to meet each week online. They're also not going to be beaten by any Zoom time delay, either. I love you Mum x

Is it Zoom fatigue or are you expected to maintain high levels of productivity through multiple public health crises with very little government support while also being personally responsible for saving local businesses, managing your mental health, and caring for loved ones

Been back on Twitter for less than an hour total this year and already have a bot idea. Brain, we do not have time to have bot ideas right now.

I probably should have attached this to the thread everyone was interacting with, but like I say, I've forgotten how Twitter works.

Not necessarily restricted to higher ed! I just love lecturing and speaking in general.

If you have any leads, occasional or otherwise, for someone with expertise of teaching historical and present-day scenes/subcultures, ethnography, research ethics, music and the internet (especially the really good zeitgeisty stuff) next year, you know where to find me (here)

I'm also trying to figure out what comes afterwards. I'm desperate to not fall out of lecturing; it's the reason I did the PhD in the first place.

I sort of forgot I was back on Twitter, and also ran into the slightly sticky detail where I can't talk as much about my research on here as I'd like without revealing things that are meant to be saved for the final thesis.

btw: if anyone has any leads on where all the downloads of this article I’m getting notified about on researchgate lately are coming from, I’d love to know! Definitely the biggest audience my academic work has ever had, but I’ve no idea who’s reading it/where they’re finding it

I've spent the last few years studying the creative pathways of ukulele players. Whole field predictably got messed up by the pandemic but it also got SO interesting. If anyone else is researching community music in the age of COVID, I'd love to chat. #phdchat #AcademicChatter

If you're not into this you might want to mute me for...*checks* 6 months

So I left Twitter for a bit because all I was doing was researching, but I think I might need to come back to find people to talk about my research with because I'm bursting with excitement about it and also spend every day working on my own.
