Justin Verlander will always be my favorite player of all time. His wealth of knowledge about pitching gave for a really nuanced take about the state of pitching injuries in today’s game. If he has any interest at all I hope he goes into coaching. https://t.co/LlAvxBGg6U

I feel for Cal Raleigh. It’s impossible to say that Judge didn’t deserve the MVP, his numbers were absolutely unreal and he absolutely deserved the award. But damn I just really felt Raleigh deserved the recognition too somehow.

Maybe a scorching hot take but I think Cristopher Sanchez should have won the NL Cy Young. He didn’t get a single first place vote but he had 15 more innings, higher WAR, and his team won (which I know isn’t Skenes fault). ERA is clearly still king in award voting.

Colt Keith really muddies the waters a bit on the Tigers free agency. Because let’s say Gleyber opts in and you finally secure Bregman, he’s pretty much out of a role. I think Keith could be a future All-Star, but does he become a high value trade piece in that scenario?

Loved his year in Detroit and had a second half that would cost him a lot of money on a multi-year deal due to the hernia. It makes sense for him to stay on essentially another one year deal at a higher AAV than he’d get on the open market for a multi-year deal.
Morosi: Gleyber Torres among players most seriously considering accepting the 1-year qualifying offer.

As much as I love how angry Guardians fans are getting at this, I’m not even arguing that Hinch should have won it in 2024, but rather that Vogt shouldn’t have won it this year. It absolutely should have gone to Schneider for the Blue Jays.
The Tigers comeback last season wasn’t enough for Hinch to win manager of the year but the Guardians comeback this season was enough for Vogt to win… Got it.

Talkin’ Baseball did their free agency draft episode this morning and it ended with Alex Bregman and Michael King going to Detroit. I would be very happy with the offseason if that became a reality.

Just rip the damn band-aid off. If it’s gonna happen let it happen soon and be an absolute haul. A whole offseason of this dragging on — on top of free agency — is just too much.
Teams believe the Tigers will "seriously consider" trading Tarik Skubal if they can get what they want in a trade, per @Buster_ESPN Olney lists the Mariners, Mets and Red Sox as potential fits

The Blue Jays need to win this for the good of baseball. Of course it would be great to see the Dodgers lose, but it would be even better to see a team immediately rewarded for signing their homegrown superstar long term. Hopefully it can serve as inspiration for other teams.

Does trading Tarik Skubal make sense, purely from a value standpoint? This might be a long tweet, so buckle in. The absolute maximum impact you’re going to see from a starting pitcher is 9 innings every 5 days. In the modern game, it’s usually more like 5-7 innings on average

This not to say that Hutch didn’t get an absolute bag — he definitely did. But he definitely could have made more on the open market and chose to stay, that’s what I’m saying

I don’t think Tarik Skubal necessarily should take any sort of discount to stay in Detroit, and he definitely won’t. He deserves to get all he is worth. But it’s nice to see that one of Detroit’s stars in Aidan Hutchinson was willing to take kind of a hometown discount to stay.

I think at this point, the only unacceptable outcome with Skubal is running it back with nearly the exact same squad, having a mediocre season, and losing him for nothing. Either you extend him, trade him for an absolute haul, or build around him this offseason. Don’t waste him.
