Here are the ten approved HIV protease medicines. The first nine all used the same design strategy to address the flap water. The last took the alternate approach and replaced it. https://t.co/r5hpB7GbpK

Lipinski’s Rule of 5 has been highly influential in guiding Med Chem in the past 25 years. What does it offer for the next 25 years of drug discovery? @HartungIngo and colleagues provide answers here:

Researchers have discovered the first known "virovore," an organism that feeds on viruses. Probably there are many others like it -- an entire, previously unknown food chain. One day into 2023, and already things are going topsy turvy. https://t.co/OvYfKM45Fm #ecology #life

Here's the slide that took me 6 months to make. The six classes of molecular interactions for drug design. Clearly H-bonds are the first thing to master as a drug designer followed by pi-pi and sigma-sigma interactions.

This is in my eyes the most important annual paper for students preparing for a job interview in medicinal chemistry (or process chemistry): provides a great overview about representative drug structures, their targets & synthetic routes used. @ACSBioMed https://t.co/DtjIBLEPXZ

The Stimulator of interferon genes (STING) is key to the innate immune system's response to pathogenic DNA. STING dimers in the ER change shape upon binding the secondary messanger cGAMP (green), and this allows them to oligomerize and move to the Golgi. #blender #b3d #sciart
