I’ve been looking into this, and calling it “a fad” is trivializing/demeaning the behavior. It’s a vendetta. An orca known as “White Gladys” was apparently injured by a small boat last year. She has seemingly decided to put a stop to this kind of thing… (1/2)

She’s teaching her family how to make boats less dangerous: by either frightening them away or overturning them. She’s plainly willing to go as far as necessary to show her family how to be safe. And when this group goes elsewhere… my money says they’ll pass the technique on.

White Gladys has been implicated in a number of these attacks, and reportedly has been accompanied to recent attacks by her sisters (“Brown Gladys” and “Black Gladys”), as well as by her mother and her own two calves. Gladys is plainly proactive. (2/3)

Harry would probably not even be offered wizardry in the #YoungWizards universe. Hermione would have her own series. (And possibly would have run off with Carmela.)

(Bemusement) Does this dingbat actually not know that some international travel *does* require vaccination? And has for MANY YEARS? And if he doesn't know this very basic international public-health fact, WTF kind of doctor *is* he? :/

This wasn’t some clinical understanding weaponized for fiction. @terryandrob told us once about standing in a video store trying to decide which of two videos he wanted to buy, and then realizing, astonished, “Wait. I’m making enough now. *I can have both!”* #GNUTerryPratchett

…what? WTF is the matter with these people? I’m a New Yorker born and bred, and we routinely say THE (long E) sometimes, for emphasis. (Noting of course that a lot of these folks hate New Yorkers, too, as they have for… a couple/few hundred years…)

The @VP again used the "thee" pronunciation for the word "the" when making a point. Some critics have claimed she appeared to adopt "a fake French accent" when she said "the plan" during a tour of a research lab on Tuesday. Today at Paris press conference, she said "the topic."

The next time someone tries to tell you that manspreading isn't real, or that complaining / being annoyed about it is a recent development: Laugh at them. This comic dates between 1905 and the 1920s. More about the strip "The Outbursts of Everett True":

This is deeply annoying. I worked cleaning people's houses while I was in nursing school, and the money I made doing that was the difference between being able to afford the occasional Jack in the Box taco and subsisting exclusively on very basic school-cafeteria food. So WTF. 😡

Enough with the pious platitudes, you cheapskate. “A calling” is code for “workers we can cheat other people into paying lower pay than they deserve.” They’ve been underpaid for decades. Pay them a decent living wage!

Teaching is a calling. You don't do it for the money, you do it because you believe in the kids that come into your classrooms. The largest school system in the country is only as strong as the teachers behind it. Happy #TeacherAppreciationWeek to all our amazing NYC teachers!
